Need a Critique of Survivalism Ad
 

I've pretty much given up on trying to meet others via the internet and now thinking of placing this ad locally in markets and other places. Would you answer this ad?

"SEEKING OTHERS TO START OR JOIN A SURVIVALISM GROUP

We all should be thinking about the concept of "Survivalism".

Please note my knowledge of survivalism is solely based on memory of reading articles and debates on the net and not real life experience. I'm hardy an expert nor the last word on the topic. Corrections, glaring or otherwise are most welcome. Subsequent predictions of near apocalyptic events of course may not come to pass.

With that in mind.....

From the economy to terrorism to illegal aliens one doesn't need to look very far to see that the United States has become a powder keg. The term Survivalism is used by folks as a term for preparation pertaining to Human survival such as in a Hurricane, Flood, Tornado, Earthquake, social unrest, et. al. Details may include storage of food, medicine, water, weaponry, secure shelter and other tools to survive a disaster without Government aid if normal social constructs breakdown. The past events occurring after Hurricane Katrina would be a glaring example of the need for survivalism tools and skills.

Many a discussion on numerous forums and organizations devoted to Survivalism have noted that even with a secluded and relatively safe "bugout" place to exit to, a number of serious questions arise when and if a situation extends beyond the temporary. Such events as long term national civil unrest, a natural disaster of global proportions, a pandemic or Civil War(here, not Iraq).

Some believe that one can only prepare for short term events for themselves and/or family as only a community can truly be sufficent for long term survival. One acronym commonly used by the Survivalism folks is "TSHTF" or "The S*** Hit The Fan". Eventually the need for a community will be necessary after a certain period of time such as 1 month after a breakdown of society with obvious anarchy. The rational behind this is simple, meaning if such a TSHTF scenario occurs long term survival may become exceedingly difficult if not impossible for individuals and families. (Unfortunately, many survivalists on the internet don't take their own advice and form local communities.)

One will need to grow their own food, provide modern medical care and have the ability to protect the community from those that wish them harm. Food and Medicines have expiration dates with some of course longer than others. In theory as well as practice, one could store some selected items in airtight climate controlled containers for a number of years. Noting that quality such as essential nutrients and potencies will diminish over time. Humans IMHO need fresh food, vitamin supplements and water in order to remain healthy and to ward off illnesses juxtaposed with stored over a period of months and years. Especially during times of severe stress.

For example, let's examine disease caused by infectious agents such as a virus or bacteria. During normal times most infections can be cured by antibiotics or if a virus, proper rest, nutrition and supportive care in a hospital if needed. Sure there are some glaring exceptions such as HIV but as a whole most infections can be cured. But during a societal breakdown there will be no supportive care, no hospitals and one can reasonablly extrapolate a number of local epidemics or even a worldwide pandemic of diseases from the absence of civilized conduct. One current fear is the "Bird Flu". Some scientists from WHO, CDC and a number of Universities claim it's just a matter of time before a worldwide pandemic that could kill millions or even billions. Others claim such dire predictions belong in a Science Fiction novel. But one thing is certain about pandemics and more importantly local epidemics. That is they 'die out' in a few weeks to a month. One model is the The 1918 Influenza Pandemic. There was no cure of course but those that remained isolated from the general population did not get infected. And after a short time could return safely to the general population without risk of infection.

One must also consider the fact that the economy is about to collapse. This isn't just my opinion but of many in the financial community. And along with the new demographics of the US including those that do not embrace American values and are more or less tribal one can see a disaster coming. Scenarios could include whole states abandoned and Americans left alone to fend for themselves. Just think about what will happen if societal collapse occurs and 10's of millions in the Cities run out of food and/or water. Or when the Correctional Officers abandon the Prisons and Jails to save their own families. As we watched in Horror the events in New Orleans recently we can assume the Feds will not be able to provide food, medicine or even protection from gangs of monsters roaming the metropolitan areas. In fact, they cannot do that now. Think of the classic sci-fi/horror film, "The Night of the Living Dead". Except in real life the Zombies will have the ability run much faster.





Morbid humor aside...You may recall how long it took the National Guard to arrive as well as the numerous defections by the New Orleans' Police. Sure we remember the story of a few cops who went looting but remember most of the defections were police officers who went home to protect their own families. And with our military tied up in Iraq, no one will be coming to restore order. Even if you live in suburbia or in a rural area, millions of the angry, hungry and insane will travel the highways. They will remove any and all that is in your possession. And quite possibly commit unspeakable crimes upon you and your family. Tribalism will almost certainly be the order of the day. If this observation disturbs you should remember that almost all Americans sat on their rear ends and allowed America to be destroyed by globalist monsters in order to avoid any sacrifice or discomfort. Whining on the internet does not equate to action. You should also note that I lost most of my business simply because I would not hire illegal aliens, did more than 50 protests alone and yet not one American joined me or offered me contracts over others that used illegal alien labor. The learning curve is quite long these days. The day it shortens millions of Americans may have to make the ultimate sacrifice for the willful ignorance that has plagued Americans for so long.

Survivalism can be quite daunting in practice with so many details. But I suspect the most difficult task is finding other like minded, sane and responsible folks to come together for a common goal. Certainly some skills will be more valuable such as a Physician, Dentist, Mechanic, Scientist, Soldier, Police Officer, Carpenter, Farmer, Vet and so on. But most should be able to learn what is needed to assist the community. For example, I could learn farming quickly since I'm a Nature buff. Or assist in medical procedures such as lab work since I have some memory of Biology and Chemistry principles during my time in college. In fact, anyone could learn anything if they truly needed to. But what is most important is being with like minded individuals especially in the beginning when the panic sets in. And to have a safe and relatively secluded place to remain especially during to most difficult and dangerous periods.

A first hand account of what happens during a collapse in real life. This is not fiction. Remembering that Argentina has a relatively common culture, values and language.

i think you're putting too much info in your ad
most of the sheeple don't know/don't care about TSHTF
they only care about the here and now

maybe try something like
" If you think our country is heading in the wrong direction "
or try a shock heading from a newspaper that people are familiar with
United States becoming a Third World Country ? ( example )

then maybe suggest a meet-up group

either people are aware of current events and are concerned
or
they're waiting for the next episode of American Idol

and if i may suggest, near the middle, take out the Zombie reference

this could be an invitation to everyone who has a Rambo/Mad Max fantasy

stick to people you know and trust
someday, your life could depend on it

If people I knew and trust were willing to start a survivalism group I would not need an ad. Second, calling a survivalism group a Rambo fantasy is silly. The whole idea is to avoid being in a situation whereby one would have to be Rambo to survive.

As for the sheeple, if they don't care.....that's not my concern. I want to meet folks who do care. And want to survive.

Anyway, I know the ad is long. It's to explain the reasoning behind creating such a group. People need a reason to meet.

Your headlines are good but for meeting others to fight illegal immigration. I tried that route for years with people just sitting on their asses behind a keyboard sending emails.

How about "I am looking for others preparing for hard times, for mutual support and cooperation"? AFAIC, the "S" word is too likely to attract unwanted attention. This version is a lot more vague, so you'll have to weed out more chaff. But if I were a "Survivalist" and I saw an ad for other "Survivalists", the first thing that'd pop into my head would be It's a setup!" and I wouldn't respond. And even if I was 100% certain it was genuine, I wouldn't want to join with people incapable of being discreet--because "Survivalist" attracts a lot of attention, good and bad.

Setup for what? I keeping getting weird responses like that. Why should Americans have to hid the fact they wish to survive the coming breakdown?

Is it illegal to form a Survivalist group? Storing canned Tuna is now terrorism?

Anyway, I might just take your advice as some folks are incredibly paranoid.

You shouldn't have to. But you do. If you could openly talk about it, then chances are we wouldn't be living in a society on the edge of breakdown, but a healthy one. But we're not.

Remember, with the multitude of senseless laws on the books, you ARE breaking a law, somewhere. Remember "It isn't paranoia if they're really out to get you"? Well. at some point, someone will be out to get you. They might not be looking at you right now, they might not even know your name or be able to pick you out of a lineup, but that doesn't mean you won't get someone's attention. Maybe a hungry neighbor knows your pantry is full? There might be a reward from the authorities for alerting them to your hoarding. Own a gun? Purchased any swimming pool chemicals? Run a cash-only business? None of that is illegal, but to someone it might be a fruitful investigation anyway.

I just think you're inviting trouble by not being discreet.

Good luck finding anyone. I looked for a while, gave it up. Real folks are scarce as hen's teeth, and the vast majority of people I've met face to face off the internet are either clueless or gun heavy Rambo wanabees ready for WW3 but couldn't sprout a potato in a glass of water.

First off, you live in the WRONG part of the country. Consider the Northwest, where survivalist groups sprout up daily.

Second, consider purchasing and/or joining a Military Vehicle Collectors Club. You can join WITHOUT purchasing a vehicle, but you will become 'one of the guys' so much quicker and be accepted so much faster that it's a no brainer.

To everyone else, just by the fact that my daily driver IS a retired military vehicle - three color camo M1009 Military Blazer - I seem to 'attract' people of like mind.

So, I'd say it depends on as much as where you live, how you live your life and WHOM you hang out with.

And NO, ADVERTISING will guarantee you will be IMMEDIATELY INFLITRATED by snitches who will thrown you to the government wolves as soon as they see it as a profit to THEMSELVES.
